The Rev. Murray Lowell Jacobson, age 85, of Northfield, went to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014.
Murray was born April 30, 1928 in Graceville, Minn., to Jonas and Hilda (Larson) Jacobson. After graduation from Willmar High School, Murray enlisted in the U.S. Navy and became an aviation structural mechanic.
After his honorable discharge in 1955, he married Dana Jo Lane. Murray attended St. Paul Bible College to prepare for Christian ministry. After graduation Murray became a Bible teacher at Mokahum Indian Bible School in Cass Lake, Minn. He began his ministry as a pastor with the Christian & Missionary Alliance in 1965, and he served at churches in Cass Lake and Elk River, Minn.; Virgie and Long Fork, Ky. In 1988 he became the director of Church Development in the CMA Ohio Valley District in Cincinnati, Ohio. He retired to Wadena, Minn., in 1993.
After the death of his wife Dana, Murray married Marilan Hansen. In the summer of 2012, he and Marilan moved to Northfield.
Murray loved sports, including softball, football, bowling, hunting, fishing, golf and ping pong. Murray also enjoyed volunteer missionary work and spent time in Bolivia, South America, and at the JAARS headquarters in Waxhaw, N.C.
