Earl Warren Anderson Sr. age 82 of Menahga, MN died Monday, September 19, 2011 at his home in rural Menahga.
Earl Anderson grew up on a farm in the Appleton, MN, area. He joined the Navy in 1946 and spent most of his time in the Navy in Adak, Alaska. His adult life was spent in the gold mining business as deck hand to dredge master, near Fairbanks and later Nome, Alaska. He later ran the Huntersville Store. He will be remembered for his big garden every year. He was married to Joy Petersdorf in 1950. To this union 8 children were born.
Earl is survived by his wife Joy Anderson, his children Cynthia (David) Downer, Beverly (Roger) Peterson, Deborah (Roger) Hohl, Earl Anderson Jr., Frank Anderson, Mike (Vernone) Anderson, Gina Thrasher and Michelle McMurrin, 27 grand children, 37 great grand children, sisters, Sally Petersdorf, Deloris (Wilbur ) Athey, Myrna (Lyle) Terwedo and Joan Juen. Earl was preceded in death by father, mother and brothers Iver, Roy, Lawrence and Carol.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Menahga with Pastor Steven Koehne officiating. Nancy Johnston will serve as organist. Congregational hymns will be “Amazing Grace,” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Guy L. McDermeit VFW Post 6206 will provide Military Honors.
