Helen died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the home of her daughter Robbin Ecklund in Goodyear, Arizona. The daughter of John and Pearl Havens, Helen was born May 24, 1924 in What Cheer, Iowa. She moved with her family to the Kiester area as a young girl and attended school in Kiester. She lived in the Kiester area most of her life. Helen worked with her former husband Robert Ecklund in their family business Ecklund Trucking Company in Kiester. In later years she owned and operated Helen's Boutique on Main Street in Kiester. It was located in the former dime store building which was demolished in the 1990s as part of the Main Street renewal project. Helen was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Kiester. She is survived by her daughter Robbin Ecklund, her son Mark Ecklund, her sister Bernice King, her grandchildren Stacy Albers, Tami Janzig, Tia Grunst, Nichole Doherty and Taylor Ecklund and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preced in death by her parents, her daughter Sandra Albers, her grandson Dirk Albers, her sister Irene Holey, her former husband Robert Ecklund, two brothers-in-law and one niece.
