Mary McNaughton Obituary
MCNAUGHTON Mary Elizabeth Ellis McNaughton departed this world on October 3, 2006 at the age of 102. She was born in Matagorda, Texas on December 31, 1903. Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of Stonewall Jackson Ellis and Cora Louise Baxter Ellis. She is survived by her two sons: Eugene Eean McNaughton and his wife Joan Alva Lucas of New Orleans, Louisiana and Charles Robert McNaughton and his wife Emily Frances McNair of Calvary, Georgia, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Eean Eugene McNaughton born in Durant, Indian Territory (Oklahoma), three sisters, Willie Lou Jolly, Annie Ruth Kneisley, Violet Ellis, and four brothers, Clyde Ellis, Melton Ellis, Robert Ellis, and Allen Ellis. Mary Elizabeth lived in Matagorda until she graduated from Matagorda High School in 1919. She attended the Texas Business Institute and Massey Business College in Houston. After graduation she worked as a Legal Assistant for the law firm of Rolle, Jewett & Beck. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She lived for years in New Orleans, Dallas and Houston. Mary Elizabeth was an active member of Gentilly Presbyterian Church in New Orleans, the Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas and the St. Stephen Presbyterian Church in Houston. She was active in various civic organizations as well as numerous missions in the churches. She lived at the Poydras Home in New Orleans for several years prior to her death. Mary Elizabeth McNaughton lived a long and productive life and will be remembered for her many contributions to her family, church, friends and community. A funeral service will be held to celebrate her life and the life of her beloved husband Eean Eugene at the St. Stephen Presbyterian Church, 2217 Theta, Houston, Texas 77034 on October 20 at 2:00pm. Graveside service will be held at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8701 Almeda Genoa Road, Houston, Texas 77075. Forest Park Funeral Home 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Texas phone 713.928.5141 is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen Presbyterian Church, 2217 Theta, Houston Texas 77034 or the Poydras Home, 5354 Magazine Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70115.
