Charles Edward Marquardt, age 70, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in West Branch. He had a vacation home in West Branch since 1995 and moved permanently to the area in 2012.
Chuck was born on March 11, 1948 in Wadena, MN to George and Joan (Asselin) Marquardt. He graduated from Wadena Deer Creek Senior High School in 1966. He joined the U.S Air Force in 1967, holding numerous positions and experienced travel to many locations in the U.S. and abroad. He went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree for Vocational Industrial Teaching from the University of Maryland in Germany.
Chuck retired after 20 years of service to his country and continued his career in the civilian arena. He received a Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University in Administration. He was a former Director/Group Leader in Configuration and Data Management and a former Project Manager/Liaison Office of the Aircrew Training Devices at Wright-Patterson AFB. Chuck also worked in Project Engineering at United Defense, LP, Global Manager and Configuration Management at TRW Automotive, Manager of Engineering Systems PLM Business Processes at Lear Corporation and was a former Sr. Configuration Analyst on the MRAP Caiman & RG-31 vehicles at Science Applications International Corporation.
He married Carol (Luckett) Glasser in Huber Heights, OH on May 30, 1992. He volunteered with the Ogemaw County Sheriff Department Posse since 2012 and was a Board of Director Member at the Ogemaw County Historical Museum. Chuck has thousands of hours volunteering in the community. He enjoyed fishing, playing Yahtzee, gardening, being one with nature and spending time with his family.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Carol, 4 children, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, brother, William, and sister, Kristie. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gregg and Brian Marquardt and parents-in-law, Del & Winnie Luckett.
