    • Carl. D. Kolset (1876-1939), frå Rugsund, busett i Amerika. Lege og Noregs-ven. Utvandra i 1876 til USA.

      Cand. med. frå Hamline University, Minnesota i 1905. Arbeidde som lege i fleire småbyar fram til 1925, og tok også doktorgraden i medisin.

      Colset vart ein sentral person i Nordfjordlaget i Amerika, der han var sekretær i fleire ti-år. Han gav m.a. store gåver til skogreising i Nordfjord, og til restaurering av Rugsund kyrkje - sjå artikkelen Rugsund stort kyrkjesokn i gamal tid.

    • KARL D. KOLSET, premierløitnant, er født paa Bakke i Rugsund den 2den mars 1876. Han er søn av Hans D. Bakke og hustru Britha, født Kolseth. Utvandret til Amerika i 1893 og fik sin høiere skoleutdannelse ved Glencoe nøiskole, Glencoe, Minn., Augsburg Seminars collegeavdeling og Hamline universitets
      medicinske avdeling, Minneapolis, Minn. Tok sin avgangseksamen i medicin vaaren 1905. Fik sin licentiat for stat av Minnesota samme vaar. Har praktisert som læge i Wendell, Brooten og Benson, Minn. Den Ste august 1918 meldte han sig som frivillig til at gjøre tjeneste i sanitetsavdelingen i U. S. armé. Blev utnævnt til premierløitnant og senere sendt til Fort Riley, Kansas. Der tilhørte han kompani 53 av det medicinske officers træningskorps. Utmønstredes fra armeen i Fort Riley, Kansas, den 12te december 1918. [11]
