Stanley Philip Rugeley, 81, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Isaac Butterworth officiating. The family will receive friends in the church atrium following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
A son of the late Winnie Catherine (Williams) and Stanley Robbins Rugeley, Stan was born on August 3, 1936, in Wichita Falls. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in geological engineering. Stan proudly served his country in the United States Army while stationed at Fort Sill. He and Martha Lou Eyer were married on August 16, 1958, in Wichita Falls and enjoyed 59 years of marriage prior to his death.
Stan worked as an independent geologist for 55 years. He served as President of the Metropolitan Club and President of the North Texas Geological Society. He was an active member of the Mavericks. Stan was an original founder of American National Bank and served on its Board of Directors for 35 years. He and Martha Lou were longtime Presbyterians and members of First Presbyterian Church.
Stan enjoyed playing tennis and spending time at his cabin at Possum Kingdom Lake. He and Martha Lou enjoyed traveling to islands, especially the Caribbean Islands. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Lou Rugeley; sons, Philip Robbins Rugeley and wife Sara, all of Wichita Falls; and Lane Eyer Rugeley and wife Alice, of Cleburne; grandchildren, Rosemary Ellen Rugeley, Stanley Philip Rugeley II, Caroline Robbins Rugeley and Rachel Lane Rugeley. - [FIND-A-GRAVE] Find a Grave, https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/190073457/stanley_philip-rugeley.
