      EDGAR SLOAN - PORT LAVACA -
      Edgar Sloan, 85, of Port Lavaca, died Thursday at 11:05 a.m. in a local hospital.
      He was born Feb. 7, 1899, in Victoria County to Julius C. and Susan Alice Lomax Sloan. A retired painter, he was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4403 and the English Lutheran Church in Victoria.
      The body will remain at the Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. It will then be taken to the Colonial Funeral Home in Victoria for services at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
      Surviving are his wife, Erma Bauer Sloan of Port Lavaca; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Elizabeth McCurdy of Seadrift; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
