Dorothy Mahavier, age 98, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, surrounded by her family. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Dorothy lived a long and beautiful life, touching countless hearts with her warmth, kindness, and strength.

Dorothy was born March 8, 1927 in Mt. Pleasant Texas and moved to NewGulf in 1946 where her husband was employed at Texas Gulf Sulphur. She worked at NewGulf Pharmacy and Boling Apathacary for 20+ years. She taught youth Sunday school for over 70 years and was a cornerstone of her community, alway ready with a listening ear, wise words, or a gentle smile. Her presence brought comfort to many, and her legacy of love, resilience, and compassion will live on in the lives she so graciously influenced.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Mahavier (Sonny) and her sons, Michael Clyde Mahavier and John Charles Mahavier. Though their absence was deeply felt, Dorothy carried their memory with grace and found continued purpose and joy in the family they raised together.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Beth Mahavier Crockett, daughter-in-law, Judith Ann Mahavier, grandchildren, Michele Pena (Nicholas) and Michael Mahvier (Adrianna), great-grandchildren, Nicholas Pena and Sky Pena, niece Lynn Watson (David), Danny Sutherland, Jay Sutherland (Lisa) and their children- each a reflection of her enduring spirit and love.
