Funeral services for Albert Ernest Svor, 93, of Benson, were May 18 at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Swift Falls with Rev. Pari Bailey officiating. Burial was in the St. Pauli Lutheran Church in Camp Lake Township, Swift County.
He died Sunday afternoon, May 14 at his residence at Homestead Place North in Benson.
He was born Aug. 13, 1912, in Camp Lake Township, Swift County, to Ole A. and Bertha Christine (Lyslo) Svor. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith Nov. 12, 1927 by Rev. G.G. Beito at St. Pauli Lutheran Church in Camp Lake Township.
He grew up on the farm and attended school at District 14 through the eighth grade. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. from July of 1934 to January of 1935.
He was united in marriage Oct. 23, 1943 to Ruth Bernice Rosella Knutson at the St. Pauli Parsonage by Rev. G.G. Beito.
He farmed in Camp Lake Township with his father until his father's death then on his own. He worked at the ASCS office and also worked in construction.
He was a member of the St. Paul Church, the Nordfjordlag - Sons of Norway and school board District 2149.
Among things he enjoyed were music, violin, guitar, harmonica, accordion and carpentry.
Survivors include: two daughters, Sandra (and Elliot) Nelson of Benson, and Renae (and Joe) Lembcke of Morris; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; one son-in-law, Charles Tolifson of Benson; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, in 1987; a daughter, Bonnie Lou Tolifson; his parents; an infant brother, Arthur Svor; and two sisters: Sylvia Thompson and Geneva Sandau.
