Dr. Middleton D. Morehead, III, age 68, of Carrollton, Ga., passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012 after an extended illness. He was born May 15, 1944 in Velasco, Texas the son of the late Middleton D. Morehead, Jr., and Wanda Hill Morehead. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Victor Darren Morehead. Dr. Morehead served as Project Director of a Federal Government Grant (1973-1974) involving a Management Through Human Development Training Program on the Wind River Indian Reservation, Fort Washakie, WY. He was Clinical Director and Psychologist (1974-1977) of the District Four West Coweta County Mental Health Center and Clinic Director and Psychologist (1977) of the Mental Health Center in Carrollton. He served as a licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice since 1978. He also was a part-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at West Georgia College the same year. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. Survivors include his wife, Tanya Hoentschke Morehead; children, Middleton Dunn Morehead IV of Wimberly, TX., Manuela Kraus, Diana & Derrick Head and James & Patti Morehead all of Carrollton; grandchildren Ryan Rayburn, Josh Morehead, Brandon Rayburn, Dusty Morehead, Jessi Morehead, Adam Rayburn, Darren Head, Emily Rayburn, Dustin Holthaus, Cullen Morehead, Cason Morehead, and Caden Morehead; great grandchildren Tyler Rayburn, Riley Rayburn, Addison Head, and Lucas Rayburn; 2 sisters and 3 brothers. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 2 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel. His sons, son-in-law, and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11 AM until the service hour. Following the service, in accordance with Dr. Morehead’s wishes, the body will be cremated.
