Oscar S. Garrett, Jr., 92, went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2007 in San Antonio. He was born on August 22, 1915 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Oscar S. Garrett, Sr. and Mariam Jones Garrett. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Gyldus Garrett. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Opal Joy Newton Garrett, married 68 years. He is also survived by three daughters whom he loved so dearly, Patsy Kelly and husband Ronald of Houston, Joan Williamson and husband Joe of Uvalde County, and Joy Griffin and husband Terry of Toronto, Ontario. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren, Lisa Kelly Andrews, Keith Kelly, Scott Kelly, John Williamson, Robert Williamson, Sharon Williamson, Kimberlea Griffin, Melissa Griffin and Erin Griffin. He also has 7 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. During his career, he worked for Straus Frank Co., Katy Railroad and retired from Acme Fast Freight as District Manager. Oscar was a member of the Traffic Club, Lions Club, Oak Hills Country Club, and a devoted member of Central Christian Church for over 68 years. Oscar and his wife Opal were also members of the Starlight Dance & Supper Club and the K Supper Club. He was an avid golfer and gardener and enjoyed hunting and bowling. His greatest enjoyment was the time he spent with his family at Lake LBJ. Oscar will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. SERVICES Visitation will be held on Monday-October 8, 2007 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday-October 9, 2007 at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park North.
