      "James D. Ruff, 82 years, of Fremont, Nebraska died Thursday, February 4, 2016 at his home. James was born October 26, 1933 in North Bend, Nebraska to James W. and Roberta H. (Moody) Ruff. He attended North Bend High School and then served in the US Navy during the Korean War from January 4, 1951 to August 5, 1954, and served on the USS Uhlmann. After his military service, he was employed by Continental Can Company in Omaha until his retirement. He was a farmer at heart and an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He raised wild game birds, as well as chickens.

      He was a member of the American Legion Post #340 of Morse Bluff, VFW Post #8223 of North Bend and Pohocco Lutheran Church, south of Fremont.

      He is survived by his brother, Jerry and wife, Beverly Ruff of Omaha; and sister, Verna Owens of Omaha; nephews, Patrick Luger of North Bend, Mark Luger and wife, Shelly of Alliance, NE, Steve Ustohal and wife, Rhonda of Fremont, Mick Ruff and wife, Keri of Omaha; Nieces, Jackie Kadlec and husband, Don of Fremont, Sherry Ustohal of Omaha, Jenni Kelly and husband, Mic of Savage, MN; 16 great nieces and great nephews.

      He was preceded in death by parents; son, James “Jim”; and sister, Patricia.

      Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend, NE. The Rev. Johnice Orduna will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 PM to 8 PM and Wednesday 1 hour prior to service, all at the funeral home. Burial at the Purple Cane Cemetery at rural North Bend, with military honors. Memorials may be directed to the family."
