Mary Jane Louise Watters
April 9, 1935 - August 10, 2011
Died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at her residence with her loving family at her side. She was born April 9, 1935, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Edward and Josephine (Anderson) Jahnke. She was a graduate of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic High School in Ann Arbor, MI and attended Eastern Michigan University. On May 27, 1967, she married Albert Don Watters Jr. in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and he survives. Mrs. Watters was a devout Catholic and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She loved to sing in the Choir and was a member of the Altar Society at St. Alexis Catholic Church in Ypsilanti. Mrs. Watters gave of her time as a volunteer with the American Red Cross and was an avid supporter of St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital. Survivors besides her husband include 4 children: Martha McGeorge, Sheila (Harry) Sobolewski, Donna Louise Bevins-Watters and Michael Timothy Watters; 9 grandchildren: Michelle, Jerry, Krystin, Natalie, Emily, Haley, LouAnn, LanDon and Michael; 3 great grandchildren: Timothy, Lyn and David; l sister, June Rosa Avery; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; l daughter, Tawnya Colleen Watters; 2 brothers: Richard Jahnke and Daniel Jahnke; sister-in-law, Diane Jahnke and brother-in-law, Carroll Avery. Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Student Chapel with Fr. Philip Mayfield, P.I.M.E. as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at Janowiak Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 p.m., on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. and at the Church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
