FOREST CITY - Jean M. Heimendinger, age 84, of Forest City, died Friday (Jan. 9, 2009) at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan 14, 2009, at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in rural Joice, with Pastor Kevin Olson officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., Forest City on Tuesday, Jan. 13, and an hour prior to service at the church.
Jean M. Heimendinger was born on a farm in rural Scarville on Oct. 12, 1924, the daughter of Carl and Jenny (Degnepold) Olson. She received her education in rural school near her home and graduated from Scarville High School.
She married Gerald Heimendinger on Sept. 30, 1962, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple farmed northeast of Forest City for many years, with Jean an active partner in the operation. She was an excellent cook and very proud of her Norwegian heritage.
The couple enjoyed taking short trips together and Jean liked raising flowers. She adored her grandchildren and treasured time spent with them.
Gerald passed away in 1992 and since then Jean has made her home with her son David and his family. Failing health forced her to enter the Lake Mills Care Center in July of 2008. She died there on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at the age of 84 years.
Jean is survived by her son David and his wife Mary Beth of Scarville; two beloved grandchildren, Adam and Zoe; a sister, Betsy Vaagen of Forest City and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gerald and a brother Paul Olson.
