Sylvia Edna Larson Sundem, born to Lewis and Avada Larson in Glencoe, MN on 11-10-1912, died peacefully with her family at her side on 2-19-02. Welcoming her to heaven are many close family members and friends, especially her husband, Cliff and dear sister, Laila. Sadly saying goodbye are her son, Gary & Liz Sundem; grandchildren, Garth & Jens; daughter, Gail & Jerry Noller; grandchildren, Jenna & husband Matthew Dorst, Jessica & husband Ewan Goddard and Jeffrey; and daughter, Gwen & Joel Jansen; grandchildren, Joshua, Jodie & Jocelyn. Sylvia was an inspiration for living. She graduated from Washburn High School, from Asbury Methodist Hospital Nursing School, then in the 1930's became one of the earliest flight attendants for United Airlines. She married Clifford Sundem, Montevideo, MN, who worked his entire career for Northern States Power Company & died in 1975. Sylvia devoted her life to her family, friends & church. For her 85th birthday, she published a book of her life titled ``An Eternal Optimist,'' an accurate description of her life philosophy. Her visitation will be held at Huber Funeral Home, 520 2nd St., Excelsior from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, Feb 20 & for 1 hour at the church prior to the service. Her funeral will take place on Thursday, Feb 21, 11 am at Minnetonka Lutheran Church, 16023 Minnetonka Blvd, Mtka. Interment at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Minnetonka Lutheran Church.
