RAPID CITY- Vivian Olson Wold Isane, 99, died November 12, 2014.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 18, at Calvary Lutheran Church. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services.
She was born to Norwegian immigrant Nels and Signe Olson in sod house four miles from Faith SD. She was the third of eight children born in the family. Her siblings were Edgar, Omar, Ralph, Norris, Thelma, Helen and Einar Olson.
Vivian attended school at country schools and graduated from Faith High School in 1933. The next year she got a teaching certificate from Northern State College and began teaching in various county schools.
In 1936 Vivian married Rasmus Wold and they had two children and they adopted two more. In the early years they were in the sheep buisiness and lived in sheep wagon. They once trailed sheep for 70 miles to market.
In 1952 they they moved to Rapid City and they owned and operated a trailer park, ranched near Piemont and owned a service station in Black Hawk, among other things.
Vivian also worked as a teachers aid in Rapid Valley.
Rasmus died in 1971 and a daughter Sheila died in 1973. In 1974 Vivian married Ola Isane and they traveled to Norway and allowed Vivian to connect with her Norwegian family. Ola died on Christmas day in 1984 and a son Roger died in 2005.
Vivian is survived by a daughter- in- law, a brother, one sister and four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grand child as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four brothers and a sister.
Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
