Franklin Royce Schodek of Richmond, Texas, passed away on January 7, 2025. Franklin was born on January 2, 1937 in Wallis, Texas to Frank Schodek and Hermina Schodek. He enjoyed spending his free time reading a good book, tending to his gardens, going to the beach with his family, and woodworking. His passions included genealogy and Texas history. This loving father, son, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hermina Schodek; brother, Daniel Schodek; and great-granddaughter, Riley Drabek.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Janiece Schodek; sons, Mark Schodek (Vickie), Brad Schodek (Stacey), and Ross Schodek; sister-in-law Kay Schodek; grandchildren, Casey Drabek (Neil), Cisco Schodek, Sheldon Schodek, William Schodek, Josef Schodek, and Lindsey Woodcock (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Lane Drabek, Wyatt Drabek, and Hazel Woodcock; along with extended family and friends.
Franklin was proud to have worked as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Fort Bend County since 1966. He was the recipient of the 2017 Bert E. Bleil Award for his exemplary lifetime work in local history preservation and promotion from Fort Bend County Historical Commission.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2025, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Pallbearers will include William, Josef, and Sheldon Schodek, Dylan Schultz, Neil Drabek, and Greg Yennior. Honorary pallbearer will be James Syptak.
