Funeral services for Dorothy Stade Petrusek, 80, of Rosenberg, TX, are set for 10 AM Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471, with Pastor Shawn Welling officiating. Burial will follow in Davis-Greenlawn Cemetery, Rosenberg, TX. Visitation will be 5-7:00 PM Wednesday, June 28, 2017, also at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, Rosenberg, TX.
Dorothy Stade Petrusek was born to Laura and Otto Stade in Rosenberg, Texas on October 7, 1936. She passed peacefully in her home on June 23, 2017, surrounded with love by family and close friends. Dorothy married the love of her life, Louis Petrusek, on April 10, 1953 at the Brethren Church in Rosenberg, TX.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years; grandparents, parents, and parent in-laws.
Dorothy is survived by her three loving sons, Wayne Petrusek and wife, Lea Petrusek, Ronald Petrusek and Richelle Sanchez, her "forever daughter", Mary James, and Steven Petrusek; brother Clifford Stade; grandchildren, Tiffani Shirley and husband, Mikel Shirley, Shawn Petrusek and wife, Meagan Petrusek, Jen Horning and husband, John Horning, Dean Petrusek and wife, Margie Petrusek, and Christina Self and husband, Christopher Self; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Crystalynn, Breanna, and Noah Shirley, and Natalie Baker, Aubrey and Alyssa Self, and Maya Grace Petrusek; brother-in-law, Rueben Petrusek and wife, Millie Petrusek; and sister-in-law, Elaine Petrusek Mikeska; godchildren, Melissa Mikeska Pentecost and husband, Billy "the kid" Pentecost, along with daughter, Victoria Combs and husband, Dillion, with son William, and Travis Mikeska and wife, Tammie Mikeska, with daughter, Christy Mikeska: nieces and nephews, Gayle Gelber and husband, Mickey Gelber and family, Mark Petrusek and wife, Beverly Petrusek and family, Kim Kunz and husband, Karl Kunz and family; and finally, a plethora of close family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Billy Pentecost, Mikel Shirley, Shawn Petrusek, Dean Petrusek, Billy Gaush, and Noah Shirley. Honorary pallbearers include Mark Petrusek, Mickey Gelber, Travis Mikeska, Reuben Petrusek, Karl Kunz, and William Combs.
The family of Dorothy wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Victoria Olson and Rachel Broaddus, who with gentle hands and loving hearts cared for her at home, along with enormous assistance from Steven, who lovingly cared for her every day.
In lieu of flowers the family requests to please make a donation towards the "Louis Petrusek Memorial Scholarship Fund" to help send more local aspiring teachers to college. Donation Box will be available at the services.
