Cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, Pearlene Adell Tielke, left this earth November 8, 2025, due to an apparent heart attack at the age of 91. There are no words to express how much she was loved. She was our rock, confidante, best friend, and a genuine example of what love and caring looks like. She married the love of her life, Air Force Staff Sargeant John Tielke, on December 2, 1951. That was over 73 years of marriage. She was completely devoted to him, and they went almost everywhere together, doctor's appointments, errands, EVERYWHERE. Their lives were intertwined in a nearly perfect example of dedication and love. They honeymooned at the famous Teepee Courts in Wharton, Texas.
Mom was born August 31, 1934, and graduated from Needville High School in 1951. As an adult, she worked in a wide variety of jobs including a photography studio, cleaners, gift wrapper at J C Penney, and in several doctor's offices which awarded her with an abundance of medical knowledge. She was the secretary at South Glen Presbyterian Church in Houston and when she and Daddy moved to Sugar Land in 1978, she became very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land as an Elder, and Moderator of the Worship Committee.
Mom and Daddy played guitar and sang together a lot when my sister and I were young. This eventually led them to the bluegrass life with Daddy playing in several bands. Mom learned the upright bass and began playing, too. They loved that life and traveled to bluegrass festivals on a regular basis for many years, making many lifelong friends. At one point, they were members of a bluegrass gospel band, For Heaven's Sake, at their church in Sugar Land. They also loved traveling and took their only, greatly adored, grandson Brett, on many trips with them and exposed him to numerous places and experiences.
If you knew Mom, you loved her. You couldn't help it. To us, her adult daughters, she was our best friend and the three of us conference called every evening. Those now missing calls will be an immense hole in our lives. Daddy and our husbands could never understand what we found to talk to each other about for an hour or more every day, but that was our bond. We would even "watch" Astros games together over the phone. Her guidance and advice were invaluable to us.
There is going to be an emptiness for all of us that will never end. Her influence on our lives was extremely special and can never be duplicated. Our hearts are broken, but we find peace in the knowledge that the minute she took her last breath here on earth, Jesus wrapped his arms around her and gave her her first breath in Heaven.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Emily Teykl, brother Irvin Teykl, and sister Charlene Anderson. She is survived by her husband John, daughters Susan Rosenbaum and husband Phil and Debbie Lewis and husband Frank, grandson Brett Rosenbaum, brother Frank Teykl and wife Sandra, step grandsons Carter and Raynor Lewis, and many many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers are Joseph Anderson, John Allen Eixmann, Brett Rosenbaum, Stan Simon, Dave Teykl, and Jim Teykl. Honorary pallbearers are Aaron Seay and Daniel Seay.
