Mabel Marion Pederson Loen was born August 3, 1917 in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Oliver and Bertha Hoff Pederson. She was baptized at Swift Falls Lutheran Church on August 23, 1917 and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson by Rev. J.S. Strand. Mabel grew up in Swift Falls, Camp Lake Township, Swift County, Minnesota. She attended school in District #64 in Swift County. On November 2, 1936, Mabel was united in marriage to Lauritz Loen at the Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. H. E. Jorgenson. To this union were born three daughters. They were blessed with more than 68 years of marriage.
Mabel was a homemaker and clerk at Ben Franklin, Swift Falls Store and worked at Jennie O. She was a member of the Homemakers, 4-H, and church organizations where she served as the ELC President and Chairman of Charity Circle. Among the things she enjoyed were gardening, flowers, outdoor activities, baking and cooking. Mabel was called from this life on September 27, 2012 at Golden Living Center – Meadow Lane Healthcare Center. She attained the age of 95 years, 1 month, and 24 days.
Mabel is survived by her children, Mona, Mary and Marge; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Berdina Svor of Benson, and Katherine (Abner) Jacobson of Glenwood; sister-in-law, Hilda Pederson of Benson; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lauritz Loen on November 23, 2004; parents, Oliver and Bertha Pederson; brother, David Pederson; and sister, Doris Davidson of Benson.
