Graveside services were held for Melonese Pierce Gartman, 82, of Mobile, Ala., formerly of Howell community, on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Camellia Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Semmes, Ala., with Rev. Jimmy Howell officiating the services.
A homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith, she died January 29.
She is survived by her daughters, Bernice (John) Lavery of Treasure Island, Fla., Elaine (Jon) Kremin of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Patricia Gail (Rickey) Wooley of Lucedale; granddaughters, Amanda R. Wooley of Valdosta, GA and Whitney (Jesse) Watson of Mobile, Ala.; grandson Christopher Paul Miller of Jacksonville, Fla; great granddaughter Elizabeth Watson of Mobile, Ala; sisters Frances (Manuel) Cecchi of Wilmer, Ala., Wilene (Aubrey) Clark of Leakesville and Joann (Bobby) Reed of Lucedale; and brothers Franklin (Addie) Pierce of Semmes, Ala., and Walter "W M" Pierce of Lucedale.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Thomas Gartman; son Joseph Andrew Gartman; stepson Eugene Gartman; sister Juanice Davis; and brothers Calvin, Lloyd and Alton Pierce.
Pallbearers included Ricky Wooley, John Lavery, Jon Kremin, Jesse Watson and Christopher Miller.
